Sorry its been so
long with getting my blog on here but its finally here. I spent
about 2 weeks deciding what to write having many discussions and
throwing around several ideas. we both had some great debates on
drugs in MMA and who, when and where it has taken place and decided
to stay well clear of it as most of it isn't fact.
At Nuzik we have been open for business now about 2 months and we
have really seen some great growth with the site, we have also made
some great friends along the way which has been good too. I have also noticed how tight
knit the UK community
really is and how much help everyone even the promoters and
organisations are with helping each other out, which can only mean
great things for the UK scene.
Right now down to business, my latest blog is going to be some picks
of fighters to watch out for this year.
1)Tom "Kong" Watson: After Tom's victory over Pierre Gullet at Cage
Rage 25 Tom's confidents has got to be strong as Pierre certainly is
no walk over. And now with Tom training in America as well as
Holland and England and working on his matt skills. We already know
that Tom has an outstanding stand up game and I believe he will be
trying to improve on his kick boxing and X1 skills with some more
fights this year. I predict Gold by August/September.
2) Michael Johnson: Johnson is currently training with the London
Shootfighters and was impressive in the contenders 3. He has
struggled with the step up on several occasions however I definitely
feel that he has what it takes to go further. If he just shows a
killer instinct he will go far. he seems to stand off far too many
times instead of going in to make that fight over and done with.
3)James Stabler: Some of you will be asking who Stabler is, some
will be saying that he hasn't had any MMA fights yet and some will be
going good choice. I saw James though at FX3's Fight Night 7 and he
looked incredible, it was in a match against Brendon Richie in X1.
Stabler finished the fight with a first round knockout and boy did
he look awesome. I'm not sure whether there are any plans afoot for him to go into MMA yet
or not but when he does watch out he will be going places and he
is a great coup for FX3.
4) Ivan Serati: Serati what can you say! for those that watched Cage
Rage 25 and saw him take apart Roman Webber would have been
impressed with his tenacity strength and the fact he went straight
for the finish from the off. He didn't show Webber any respect at
all, which I feel at heavyweight is definitely the way to go. Too
many fighters at heavyweight just stand throwing haymakers and
hoping that one will hit. Serati only has two loses to his name and
one of those was against Vitor Belfort this will definitely be one
to watch. Gold by November.
5)Andre Winner: Winner says all in the name really, this guy is
destined for stardom, he is already one of the UK's leading men in
MMA at the moment and I feel he has to be my last pick purely
because he has the world at his feet. he has demonstrated on 4
occasions he can go the distance and win by judges decision and on 3
other occasions has won by submission. So keep your eyes peeled this
year for Andre Winner and lets see where he goes.
